It seems like a very long time, could be done in less time therefore less disruptive for the traffic around the school area.

An ABC approach here makes eminent sense.

The current plan will severely disrupt life on Old Church Road. Please provide more support for impacted neighbors. Thank you for your attention.
October 5, 2024
Old church road must NOT be used as alternative route for this project. It would be very unsafe for the children of GCDS and those who live on old church road. There is no sidewalk for pedestrians to safely walk as it is which the cars speeding up to 60mph. We have asked the city for a sign showing the speed in which cars are diving and a sidewalk. Using old church road should not be an option.

I have lived in Greenwich since the 1980s. The traffic has gotten to be overwhelming and anything that impairs cars from using North Street will impact all the other main roadways with spill over traffic. Two years is too long for a bridge that is so small.
October 3, 2024
Traffic on North Street in that area is a nightmare during school drop off and pick up times and it extends into the late afternoon/evening. This plan to rebuild the bridge for 18-24 months is insane. It MIGHT be tolerable if it takes 4-6 weks but any longer than that and you will have terribly frustrated and unhappy citizens of Greenwich! We are dreading the thought of this project.

I've shared this information with PTA Council (the governing PTA body for GPS) and they have shared it with PTA Presidents of each of the GPS schools. I've shared it with friends and none of them knew anything about this project and were perplexed why they weren't informed about it, especially those that live on North St. and in the direct vicinity of the bridge. Will the public be able to speak at the Oct 7th meeting? And will it be on Zoom as well? Thank you.

Additional exploration of alternatives is needed and communication to the impacted community is vital!
September 15, 2024
Agree completely with points above. We live in back country off round hill road and endured 2 years of bridge reconstruction which was terribly inconvenient and no where near as much traffic as lower north street.
September 12, 2024
What would be the cost of building the bridge offsite and then like was done on 95 installed?
September 12, 2024
Please work to shorten the amount of time this bridge will be out of service
September 11, 2024
Wholly support the goals of this project. Traffic is already bad around school pick up and drop off. It will be factors worse
September 11, 2024
There has been NO regard for impact on schools as well as floodwater backing up into neighborhoods that already have flooding problems
September 11, 2024
The proposed timeframe for the above North Street Bridge Project shows how little respect the town has for the residence of Greenwich. Where there is a will there is a way and this project should not take longer than a month even if it means working 24 hours a day seven Days a week. North Street is a feeder road to the Merritt and to downtown Greenwich to the railroad and I 95 as well as all of the schools mentioned above. Already when the Merritt and I 95 have traffic North Street is significantly even more crowded with cars during rush hour particularly in the evenings. It’s being proposed currently Is incomprehensible.

Built the bridge put it to the side take out the bridge drop it in done. 2 weeks. If they could do it by exit 9, this should be easy.
September 10, 2024
Thank you for organizing this!!!
September 10, 2024
This project must be completed in a much shorter time frame. There will be incredible congestion with the current plans. This past summer saw delays with the few weeks of North Street repaving. I cannot imagine the delays when schools are in session if a project were to take 18-24 months. It would cost millions of dollars in lost production from people sitting in traffic.
September 10, 2024
It is absurd there is not a better solution - either a pre-fab solution that gets installed, or a complete shutdown for a significantly shorter period - but the idea of a 2-year lingering mess is absurd.
September 10, 2024
How could this project POSSIBLY take so long? Surely this has not been thought through properly and will be a massive disruption for the time under construction. Please review and rethink this.
September 9, 2024
This project needs to be completed in less than a year. There is no reason it cannot done!
September 9, 2024
Current traffic data are a must!
September 9, 2024
please fix North Street/Fairfield light and traffic before creating additional back up and unsafe traffic conditions
September 9, 2024
Concerns are also for a community wide forum
September 6, 2024
Please try to speed up the rebuilding, traffic is terrible now!
September 6, 2024
Lots of schools and traffic using North Street. Get the bridge done in a more timely manor. Why does it have to take so long! RIDICULOUS
September 6, 2024
I am in full agreement with this petition
September 6, 2024
This is a major safety concern and traffic issue all who live in the area.
September 6, 2024
No please!
September 5, 2024
The traffic congestion that will result from closing one lane with a signal light and alternating lanes over the construction site at the bridge presents major safety issues.
September 5, 2024
This can be done in a more expedited time! My street will be used as a cut through and will endanger all the greenwich academy kids that are all along it. Big trucks and cars that drive way too fast.
September 5, 2024
A concerned neighbor on Andrews Rd who is worried that Andrews will become a 24 cut through which it is not only during school hpurs and it will bring in people form out of state_ saftery will become and issue and cars traveling at high speeds will become an issue. This project has to be reassed for time and traffic patterns
September 5, 2024
A bonus offered for accelerated completion.. Additional money to work overtime to complete the project quicker
September 5, 2024
GCDS Parent. This is horrific for our commute.
September 5, 2024
There needs to be better communication about this plan and a better traffic diversion plan. The spillover impact of the plan for one lane of travel will be a dramatic one for nearby neighbors and those dropping kids at the many nearby schools for more than a year. Also, the project should be delayed so that it does not overlap with the states bridge project on the Post Rd, which currently is expected to severely impact GHS and CMS traffic at the exact same time.
September 5, 2024
We have asked the BET to not release funds until all conditions are met and alternatives to the 18-24 month time line are explored.
September 5, 2024
This will greatly impact driving my child to and from school.
September 4, 2024
DPW must address drainage improvements before bridge construction worsens flooding above NSB.
September 4, 2024
Project construction timeline needs to be shorter than 18 months AND before construction is completed drainage must be improved on Plow Lane/Old Church so that water flow under bridge is NOT obstructed with temporary dam that threatens neighborhood flooding above the bridge.
September 4, 2024
I suspect the replacement of a two lane bridge in Greenwich 50 years ago was done in less time than the 18-24 months projected for the NSB in 2025.
September 4, 2024
Traffic on North Street during the school year is already a problem. Closing 75% of the roadway on North Street to southbound and northbound is a recipe for disaster. The NSB construction can easily be done in two months or less during the summer. 18-24 month construction period does not make sense. Something is terribly wrong.
